Liberation Hero, Mutangadura Buried in Kariba

Liberation War hero Cde Zanoramwari Martin Gibson Mutangadura,who died last week in Harare has been buried at John Range Cemetery, in Kariba.

President Mnangagwa conferred liberation hero status on Cde Mutangadura last week and the decision was conveyed to the family through a letter by Zanu-PF secretary for administration Obert Mpofu.Born on November 18, 1954, in Honde,he joined the war of liberation in 1976.

He then left the country for Mozambique and was one of the survivors of the Nyadzonya massacres.

He operated in Bocha,Marange until the time of the ceasefire. After the demobilization exercise, he enrolled at Harare polytechnic college and trained as a technician.

After his training he joined the police force as a radio technician and later on moved to the ZESA holdings.

He worked in Harare, Bulawayo and Kariba, then unfortunately in 2010 he was forced to retire on medical grounds.

In a speech read on her behalf,by assistant District Development Coordinator, MS Patience Mubango, Mashonaland West provincial affairs and Devolution Minister,Mary Mliswa-Chikoka described Cde Mutangadura as a fearless and principled hero.

"Cde Mutangadura, played a key role in promoting empowerment programs in the agriculture sector.

The comrade was also very instrumental during the third Chimurenga where he helped in logistics and other issues, “said Mliswa.

Minister Mliswa said youths should emulate the late liberation hero`s dedication to Zanu-PF and his country.

“Cde Mutangura is a true hero who was loyal to the party and he committed his life to advancing the interests of us Zimbabweans.

“The province and country, at large have lost a dedicated party cadre, “she added.

Cde Mutangadura is survived by his wife Esima,three children and several grandchildren.
