ZIFA MASH WEST TO HOLD AGM
ZIFA Mash West is set to hold its annual general meeting on
the 11th of March 2023.
The provinces highest decision-making body in
football{congress}, will meet to set the ball rolling to a season, that looks
intriguing and like the norm in mash west football, it`s expected that the
season will be entertaining and highly competitive.
Mashonaland West Province boasts of a pool of teams that are
on record as forces to reckon with in Zimbabwe, when talking about lower rank
football.
Last year the province had an entertaining season, that
culminated in the promotion to D1, of Omnia Fc from division 2A and MWOS Fc, from
division 2B.
These two clubs are strong clubs in all facets of the game
and are both bankrolled by corporates who got a strong footing, in our local
business circles and the two clubs are expected to make their presence felt, in
the more demanding, NRSL D1 league.
The two clubs joined seven other clubs that hail from
Mashonaland West Province, to make it nine teams from the province, out of a
total of 18 teams, drawn from three provinces, namely Mash West, Harare
Province and Mashonaland Central, that make up Northern Region.
The scheduled AGM is set to dispose of the routine agenda
items and also set the date for the commencement of the 2023 football season,
in Mashonaland West Province.
The football family in Mash West is eagerly waiting for this
indaba with hopes of getting a clear insight into the state of our local
football, in the wake of a biting FIFA suspension, that was imposed on our
country.
Zifa mash west veteran administrator, Tatenda Makuvaro
confirmed to Mash West Times sport, that the AGM was scheduled for March and
all was set.
“We abide by the dictates of our constitution that require
us to hold an annual general meeting, in every calendar year and we have
already sent a notice to our affiliates, to that effect, “said Makuvaro.
Football in Mash West, was not spared from the ravaging
effects of Covid 19 and the province hope to enter a new productive football
phase, that will allow more fans to watch games, thereby improving individual
clubs revenue inflows.
It will also be interesting to see how the province will
deal with errant clubs that periodically fail to travel for matches, to away
venues, especially when the season approaches closure.
“The executive is seized with that matter of clubs that
break our rules and regulations wantomly, thereby bringing the game of football
into disrepute. Time for leniency on truant clubs is over now, we are past the Covid
19 phase, I hope our congress will support the intended move to sanction clubs
that break our rules, in order to preserve the image and competitiveness of our
league.”
Gilbert Chiminya, the Vice Chairman for the Mash West board,
urged the football family in the province to come together and strengthen the
football base in Mash West, with the hope to get one or more clubs in the PSL,to
join Zpc Kariba and Ngezi Platinum.
“As we enter the new season, I would want to express my
sincere gratitude to our fans, players, technical teams, executive members of
clubs and team sponsors for continuing to raise the football flag high, in the
province and beyond. I know we need to do much more in our football, but for
now let`s remain focused and consolidate the gains that we made as a province,
as evidenced by us having nine teams in D1 and two teams in the PSL,” said
Chiminya.
Ngezi Platinum and ZPC Kariba were both promoted from Zifa
Mash west and the football indaba should dwell on issues meant to preserve the
great exploits of clubs that hail from the province.
