Kanyembe women embrace government empowerment projects

A Five-member women group, named Takunda fishers, based at
Kanyembe farm, are embracing the call by the President, to engage into
empowerment projects.
They benefited from government`s empowerment projects after
getting financial assistance, in the form of a loan facility, that was availed
to them, through the government.
The women were
trained by officials from the Ministry of Women Affairs, in writing their
project proposal, accessed a loan for a fish farming project and horticulture
business, at Kanyembe farm, ward 1, Chakari constituency.
In an interview with Mash West Times, at their base which they branded "Muzvezve fish center" at Kanyembe farm, Mehlomakulu who is a committee member of the Women`s group, said that no one is being left behind and everyone will benefit from the programs being initiated by the government.
" The problem is that people want financial assistance
for their intended projects but they are not organized. People need to be
organized first and funding will definitely come to their doorstep," she
said.
They also need to acquire knowledge through trainings to run
their intended projects," she added.
Takunda fishers also hailed President Emmerson Mnangagwa for
walking the talk on women empowerment.
The group extended their gratitude to Ministry of Women Affairs,
Cde Felix Dude, Councilor Chrispen Zimunyu and the community of Kanyembe farm
for their support and advice.
P. Mehlomakulu said,
“We are grateful to our government, through our President for offering us support
and access to finance, the development will also help us to contribute towards
the fulfillment of the National Development Strategy 1 (NDS 1) and the
government Vision 2030.``
“Its not easy for women to start income generating projects,
but I thank our government for the support that has been rendered to our
organization, “she added.
Mehlomakulu did assure women that government has various
empowerment projects for the youths, women and the disabled.
“Take part in the
empowerment projects which are being spearheaded by our President Emerson Mnangagwa,
to ensure that women also take a lead in the development of our nation,” she
said.
