Armed robbers pounce on Mukuru in Silobela

A gang of six armed robbers pounced on Mukuru orange booth
at Silobela Cross Roads Business Centre on Tuesday afternoon and got away with
cash and cellphones.
The Zimbabwe Republic Police in Midlands Province has
confirmed the robbery incident.

cellphones by a gang of six
man brandishing three pistols. The incident occurred on 28
February 2023 at about 1245
hours," said Midlands ZRP spokesperson Inspector
Emmanuel Mahoko.
Circumstances surrounding the incident are that, the robbers
reportedly pounced on the booth which was manned by a teller and a security guard
whilst the teller was busy serving customers.
The six unknown men arrived and joined the queue pretending to be part of the customers in need of services.
Three of them then entered the booth and they all produced
pistols and instructed all clients in the booth to lie down.
They allegedly instructed the teller to surrender all the
cash that was available in the shop.
One of the robbers reportedly pushed the workers into one
corner and hand cuffed them together, using the security guard`s handcuffs.
It is said that they then ransacked the Mukuru booth and
took away the money and cellphones. They then left the shop, got into an
unregistered silver Toyota wish and drove away towards Nkayi, along
Silobela-Nkayi road.
The police have appealed to members of the public to assist
them with necessary information in their investigation.
"We appeal to members of the public for any information
that can lead to the arrest of the suspected robbers," said Inspector
Mahoko.
